FAQ
The Battery Powered Initiator are designed to perform over 70 blasts per (4) AA batteries The are the new standard for the Rock Popper system. The Battery Powered Trigger has been tested to consistently fire 4 Heads at a time, with a maximum of 6. Keep this in consideration when attempting to fire 4 or more heads at a time.
We also carry our legacy wired trigger, which plugs into a standard NEMA 5-15R (120 volt outlet).
You need 200 watts per Blast Head to be fired. For example a Four Head System requires 800 watts and a Ten Head System requires 2000 watts. If using a generator make sure the economy mode is off. If using an inverter you should use 250 watts per Power Head to be fired.
We are working on a list of persons with a Rock Popper for hire. As this develops, we will begin to share our contacts on a page to be added to the site. Check back regularly and create an account in our store for email updates.
We have not had consistent success in use on tree trunks or other organic materials nor can we vouch for the effectiveness or safety if used on stumps. Generally, our system works best in solid materials (the harder the better). The spongy characteristics of wood and other organic materials reduce the effectiveness of the Rock Popper System
Rock Popper does not work as well on soft materials or materials with many cracks or foliations. The gasses escape out the cracks before the propellant can initiate the synergistic loop required to create significant pressure and/or initiate the Booster Charges.
This does not mean the Rock Popper can not work on soft or cracked materials. It means the learning curve is higher and the maximum effectiveness will be diminished. See the Technical Overview for more information on how Magnum Cartridges and Booster Charges work in more detail.
Yes! Rock Popper works great on concrete and other materials of similar hardness. Keep in mind, the integrity of the concrete is a factor, as fractures and pores will reduce the effectiveness of the system as mentioned above.
